Our book club met on September 11th to discuss this month's book, The Perks of Being A Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky. Our theme for the September book was a "banned book" since the last week of September is Banned Books Week. This week is held annually to encourage readers to examine challenged literary works and to promote intellectual freedom in libraries, schools and bookstores. Learn more about banned and challenged books here.

The discussion for this book was focused and deep and possibly one of the longer book discussions. Many had just read it for the first time. It's hard to believe it's celebrating 25 years in print this year! Only a handful have seen the movie, but many of us would like to now. The movie was written and directed by the author which is not very common! Everyone seemed to enjoy the read and felt like it left a memorable impact.

Thank you to Jill who hosted the meeting and spoiled us with the most delicious tacos, margaritas, and churros!
